As a entrepreneur who has a belief that you should always finish something you start, I am hell-bent on Marketing Eye's global expansion, and the only thing that holds the company back is my ability to travel more often given that I have a dog at home to look after.

Baring this in mind, we expanded to the US, and have done so in a way that we can trial operating remotely and within a management style that is conducive to me getting enough sleep and being present to whatever team I am working with at the time.

#HeForShe isn't quite working

I was very proud of Emma Watson when she did her speech for the United Nations promoting HeForShe. It was a significant move forward in looking at the whole gender equality issue in a different, more level approach.

I thought long and hard about the women that work for me and the women and girls that are my family. This speech meant something, and I felt more men were standing up and saying that we should respect each other.

About two years ago, I was driving in my car with a man who use to own nightclubs and bars, and he said to me, "women will do anything for coke - I should write a book on it". I looked at him and said, "maybe you should". By bringing the issue out into the forefront, maybe it might create a situation where women think about what they want in life and how they want to be perceived. They may also think about the fact that doing cocaine is illegal and it doesn't make you a better person.

Not just your average day. I started mine at 5 a.m. eagerly awaiting my flight time of 9 a.m. to Sydney, with so much anticipation and excitement, I literally couldn't contain myself. This past few weeks has been very exciting, adventurous and rewarding in so many ways - I can't begin to explain.
It's raining outside and our whole Melbourne team is meant to be playing tennis as a team bonding session.

A few of us are not so sure, mainly because we are women and we have things to go to after work which require our hair to be "beautiful". Rain is not conducive of that.

Randomly, I pick up two tennis rackets from my office and a whole heap of balls and then grab Lisa O'Keeffe, and we start playing tennis in the middle of the office. Firstly, you have to have an office big enough - which we have, and secondly, you have to be prepared for anything to happen. Broken computer screens, lights, dints in walls, people being hit - in general chaos. But what is the worse that can happen? Someone gets hurt? How hurt would you become from a tennis ball? I pinch of pain never hurt anyone, or at least that is what we all agreed.

Data has played a vital role in turning marketing from an art into a science and now there’s more than ever. It can be difficult to know what statistics you should be paying attention to and how to use them. So how do you know your website is performing? What can you do to improve it? Here is Marketing Eye’s quick guide to Google Analytics statistics and how to use them to improve your online marketing.

The most important thing you need to understand about Google Analytics Stats is that no singular statistic will tell you everything. The key to making informed decisions is looking at several statistics to form a more complete picture of your online marketing, and compare this to your strategy to see if you are on the right path. If you’re getting all your traffic from Twitter, but no one is buying your products, maybe you need to rethink your social media strategy.

As I drive around, I constantly see aged care related marketing and it astounds me how old-fashion it is. You many think that the target audience is old, but what is old today?

Isn't 60 the new 40? Aren't the people past retirement age now more active, fit and looking a lot more fantastic?

Designing the future of your company

Touch down! Atlanta here I am. I've conquered the first leg of this international trip and now I am ready and able to look at what is really going on in the world of Marketing Eye.

Everything has been such a cloud of recent, and for reasons out of my control. Now, we are taking the necessary steps to reach new levels in the business, and there has been a bit of a business turnaround.

Instead of focusing just on sales of Marketing Eye contracts, we are focusing on creating better career opportunities for marketers around the globe that want to own their own business.

As a small business owner myself, I am always looking for ways to improve what we do. It's a constant struggle to not only be ahead of the times when it comes to professional services delivery, but also to pioneer the future.

If you have read this blog for a while, you may have realised that I am a country girl. I grew up in rural North Queensland in a small township called Charters Towers, just over an hour west of Townsville. It seems like a million years ago now, as I have been living in big cities for the past 20 years or so. I currently reside mostly in Melbourne and from there I have built a multi million dollar international business. What I have realised about business is that the  more mature my business becomes, the more flexible I am with where I work from. It certainly has got me thinking about where in the world people can build successful businesses from and what are the hurdles that they must overcome if they are not located in a major city.

I've always been aware that I have all the things in life that are necessary to become successful; mentors, learning and development, financial stability, and a community... and the right mindset. But it wasn't always that way, and the first thing that you need to know about being successful is that you have to have the right mindset and belief that anything is possible. It takes so many parts to be successful, but I guess for most of us, it just starts with a dream.
